Fun but could have been more

Phil Vassar really is an under recognized talent. He worked his tail off, so that made the contrast with Lonestar's just "going through the motions" even more stark. Richie McDonald looked like Grumpy Cat most of the time and and festive Christmas sweater couldn't cover up the fact that it wasn't clear he wanted to be there. The show was also surprisingly short, clicking in at about 90. So we didn't hear Little Red Rodeo or Love Is a Beautiful Thing from Vassar. But it is Christmas and the peppy Christmas tunes helped me get in the spirit. The tickets were reasonable (if they'd been higher I'd have been pissed). It was a pretty night among downtown Christmas lights. And everyone sounded great. So, four stars. PS Rows A through L at the Paramount have been pulled out and replaced with temporary chairs jammed in miserably tight. In the future I'd buy seats in M or further back.
